Yellow Music : ウィキペディア英語版
Yellow Music
Yellow Music (Chinese: 黃色音樂, Huang2 Se4 Yin1 Yue4, wong sik jam ngok) or (Chinese: 黃歌, Huang2 Ge1, wong go) was a label used to describe early generations of Chinese popular music in Shanghai, China during the 1920s to 1940s as a reference to pornography.
==Origin==
The name came about since the color yellow in China have been associated with pornography and sex. The Communist Party of China saw pop music as sexually indecent and labeled the C-pop genre as such.〔Jones. Andrew F. () (2001). Yellow Music – CL: Media Culture and Colonial Modernity in the Chinese Jazz Age. Duke University Press. ISBN 0-8223-2694-9〕 The term was used continually up to the Cultural Revolution.
